WHAT UTOPIANS DO

The open secret is that the music industry is struggling with the very basics of music accounting: What was played, when and where? Who should get paid and how much?

Utopia Music is bridging the data gap by connecting global consumption, accurate metadata, and fast payments to an industry-wide trust platform. Our goal is to unlock creative value and enable Fair Pay For Every Play to make a better world for Music. The solutions we offer do not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection for all.

THE ROLE

Utopia Corporate Development M&A team focuses on sourcing, evaluating, negotiating and executing mergers and acquisitions. We are currently looking for an experienced M&A professional to manage cross-functional integration planning and execution. You will partner with internal and external stakeholders from evaluation to due diligence to deal close and integration. 

Together with external advisors, you will play an instrumental role in deal confirmatory and operational due diligence and drive end-to-end integration planning and execution. The ideal candidate is inherently curious, has mature interpersonal skills, possesses an innate desire to serve others, remains calm under pressure, and has meticulous attention to detail. This position reports to the VP, M&A Integration.

KEY OBJECTIVES

• Own integration planning and execution of mergers and acquisitions to ensure that strategic and operational objectives of each transaction materialize. 
• Nurture strong stakeholder relationships with internal and external cross-functional partners.
• Program manage M&A integration efforts to ensure associated milestones are met on time.
• Communicate effectively and align involved organizations throughout the process.
  
  

RESPONSIBILITIES

• You will partner with Utopia’s functional organizations (Strategy, P&C, Finance, etc.) and respective Business Unit leader to understand the transaction rationale, value drivers, synergies and risks to ensure all required items are taken into account in the due diligence, integration strategy and plan.
• After learning our business model and processes, you will lead integration activities pre-transaction close via the integration plan you’ve created, through to integration completion by ensuring task completion by all involved parties.
• Lead cross-functional M&A integration meetings, author and distribute regularly
  scheduled written updates for each deal, and present updates to executive management.
• Communicate effectively across the organization and to the executive team on projects’ updates, deliverables, assignments, timelines, costs, etc.
  
  
  

REQUIREMENTS

• At least 5 years of work experience with 2-3 years of experience in diligence
  coordination and post-merger integration.
• Prior experience working for a management consulting firm or a strategy team of a highly acquisitive organization with focus on integration planning and execution.
•  Strong program management skills, including demonstrated ability to craft deliverables, frameworks, and process improvements.
• Demonstrated ability to drive and implement cross-functional initiatives across a rapidly growing organization.
• A desire and comfort working in a changing, fluid, and often ambiguous environment.
• Ability to execute on aggressive timelines.
