WHAT UTOPIANS DO
The open secret is that the music industry is struggling with the very basics of music accounting: What was played, when and where? Who should get paid and how much?
Utopia Music is bridging the data gap by connecting global consumption, accurate metadata, and fast payments to an industry-wide trust platform. Our goal is to unlock creative value and enable Fair Pay For Every Play to make a better world for Music. The solutions we offer do not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection for all.
THE ROLE
You will be integral to our Data Team building and continuously improving our metadata pipeline by helping us manually verify and validate our data quality. You’ll collaborate with the product team (product managers, designers and engineers) to help improve and develop our in-house database management tools to allow us to scale our data operations. Your work will directly support further product development at Utopia and as such drive us towards our mission of Fair Pay for Every Play.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collect, enter, and validate existing metadata in Utopia’s database with speed and accuracy.
- Improve and maintain Utopia’s internal databases.
- Assemble and structure process manuals and guidelines for the data team.
- Perform market research, data gathering, and business intelligence tasks.
- Perform ad hoc research tasks on different areas of the music industry
- Attend Utopia’s strategy meetings and workshops.
REQUIREMENTS
- 3-5 years of work experience in a similar role (data management, back office, general administration)
- Strong and clear communication skills to be able to explain workflow and tech issues to the rest of the product team
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Driven to meet objectives
- Excellent attention to detail & research skills
- A proactive approach to problem-solving
- Fluent in English, other languages a strong asset
- Interest in and understanding of the music industry

- This is a 6-month fixed-term role with a great possibility of extension.
- We are looking for candidates in Finland or the UK and do not support relocation from other countries at the moment

Do you like to work in teams with a lot of individual responsibility? Yes, we know it sound cliché but this is also how it actually is.
Every morning after breakfast we gather in our teams to plan the day, assign tasks to kickstart the days. Agile, fast and inventive is how we like it. That also gives us room to pair up or hold a workshop if we need help in finding the best solution.
