The open secret is that the music industry is struggling with the very basics of music accounting: What was played, when and where? Who should get paid and how much?
Utopia Music is bridging the data gap by connecting global consumption, accurate metadata, and fast payments to an industry-wide trust platform. Our goal is to unlock creative value and enable Fair Pay For Every Play to make a better world for Music. The solutions we offer do not threaten to usurp the role of industry incumbents - it is about bringing transparency in the industry and supporting efficient royalty collection for all.
THE ROLE
Utopia Music's future Junior Accountant is an addition to a fast growing team in order to enable the Finance organization to scale with the company. This is a unique position and you will be at the heart of our business supporting us to become a truly digitized, agile and forward-thinking organization. Utopia is growing fast on multiple levels and is building a framework that can keep up with the needs of a scaling organization.
Together with Utopia’s Senior Accountant and VP Finance you will build the Finance
function and make the function efficient and scalable while business partnering with the various teams in the organization. The role is based at Utopia`s global headquarters in Zug, Switzerland.

- External accounting and payroll providers
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the accounts payable administration and accounting transactions
- Implement and continuously improve an effective accounting process that supports the high growth strategy of Utopia Music
- Taking care of general accounting questions from different departments within our organisation
- Support the monthly closing process of multiple legal entities
- Support the annual closing and external audits
- Preparation of VAT returns (Switzerland)
- Ad hoc tasks and project as we are operating in a changing and dynamic
environment. This is of key importance for Utopia!
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven work experience as an Accountant or similar role that brings you the relevant experience
- At least 2-3 years of professional experience in financial accounting
- Experience in NetSuite Oracle would be a plus
- Strong organisational skills; very hands on
- Sufficient knowledge of Swiss and international accounting principles
- Resilient and able to work under pressure.
- Fluent in and comfortable with English as a company language
- Tech savvy, strong IT skills.
- Selfstarter, forward-thinking and goal oriented. Confident to act and work
autonomously - Authentic, trustworthy, reliable and a teamplayer
