Thomas Lidy has been active in the field of music tech & AI since 2004.
After being a researcher at Vienna University of Technology in the field of Music Information Retrieval, Thomas created the music discovery startup Spectralmind as the founder and CEO. Spectralmind provided professional B2B music search solutions and create the first visual music discovery app in the launch year of the Apple iPad (2010).
After that, Thomas joined the European project #MusicBricks where he led the industry testbed at the intersection of latest music tech research and uptake by startups and industry.
In 2015 Thomas joined Musimap as the Head of AI. Together with a team of musicologists and data scientists, he created an emotion-aware music AI that is able to characterize both music and people based on their emotional signature. The solutions enhance music recommendation and enable completely new branding opportunities with a deep link to people's preferences. In the project FuturePulse, the teams of Musimap and partner companies built a platform predicting future trends in music, identifying emerging artists and predicting the popularity of songs and artists.
Recently Musimap was acquired by Utopia Music, where Thomas now is the Directory of AI & Datascience.
Thomas is also the creator and co-host of the successful Vienna Deep Learning Meetup, co-organized AI Summit Vienna 2017 and has published over 40 publications in the field of music & AI.
